TLC's new reality series 'The Baldwins' will delve into Alec Baldwin's personal and professional life, including the aftermath of the fatal shooting on the set of 'Rust'. The trailer offers glimpses into the emotional toll the tragedy has taken on Baldwin and his family, while also showcasing their resilience and determination to move forward.
The upcoming TLC reality series ' The Baldwins ' will directly address Alec Baldwin 's ongoing legal battle stemming from the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of the movie ' Rust .' A trailer released on January 24th features Hilaria Baldwin, Alec's wife, seemingly referencing Hutchins' death as aerial footage of the ' Rust ' set in New Mexico is displayed. 'A son lost his mom in the most unthinkable tragedy,' she says.
'This is never something to forget, and we're trying to parent through it.' Halyna Hutchins was a Ukrainian cinematographer and mother to a young son with her husband, Matt Hutchins. Their son was nine years old when she died at the age of 42 after a prop gun held by Baldwin discharged a live round on the Santa Fe set of 'Rust.' Baldwin, 66, maintains he pulled back the hammer but not the trigger, causing the revolver to fire. The 'Baldwins' trailer shows the actor appearing distressed at various points, although the reason is unclear. 'Honestly, from the bottom of my soul, I don't know where I'd be if I didn't have you and these kids,' he tells Hilaria Baldwin in the trailer. In July 2024, a judge dismissed involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin in Hutchins' death. However, on January 9th, 2025, Baldwin filed a civil lawsuit in Santa Fe alleging malicious prosecution and civil rights violations. He claims prosecutors and investigators mishandled evidence and attempted to 'scapegoat' him, according to court documents. TODAY.com has reached out to Santa Fe's district attorney and the sheriff's office for comment but has not received a response as of publication. The TLC reality show, premiering February 23rd, documents the lives of the actor, his wife, and their seven children. 'We've had bad moments, but we found our foundation,' Hilaria Baldwin states in the trailer. The couple also teased the show in a June 2024 Instagram video depicting their children's energetic antics. 'We’re inviting you into our home to experience the ups and downs, the good, the bad, the wild and the crazy,' Alec Baldwin says in the video.
