TheBachelorette’s Rachel Lindsay has some personal news
Photo: Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images for MTV/ViacomCBS In 2017, Rachel Lindsay became the first Black Bachelorette, and now she’s the first contestant from the series to win a big beauty deal. Lindsay will be the new brand ambassador for clean-beauty brand True Botanicals. Olivia Wilde, Zazie Beetz, and Laura Dern are all part of what the brand calls its “band of activists.”
Lindsay has been in the news for calling out the racist practices of the Bachelor franchise. She has criticized the show for “failing to protect her.” She also confronted Chris Harrison, the show’s former host, in a television interview for Extra, after he defended another contestant’s racially insensitive actions. The cyberbullying she received afterwards was so serious that The Bachelor executives had to issue a statement condemning it to Bachelor Nation fans.
In a press release, Lindsay expressed her excitement with the new role, explaining that she’s noticed a visible difference in her skin from using the brand’s product: “They are a perfect example of why you don’t need to choose between clean ingredients and high-performing products.” Congratulations to Lindsay, because a beauty-spokesmodel role is more exciting than a podcast, anyway.
