Director and executive producer Peter Chakos reveals the one The Big Bang Theory finale revelation scene that fell flat for the audience.

A particular scene in The Big Bang Theory ended up being a disappointment after the live audience didn't react to it. In 2019, The Big Bang Theory ended its 12-season run on the small screen with a special two-episode send-off. While they were mainly well-received, there's a specific revelation in them that just didn't connect to viewers.

In Jessica Radloff's book, The Big Bang Theory The Definitive Inside Story Of The Epic Hit Series, producer and writer Peter Chakos opened up about how revealing the Wolowitz kids didn't get the reaction he thought it would. For context, the finale offered the first look at Howard and Berndatte's kids, Halley and Michael, which should have been a big thing, but the audience just didn't care much for them.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT When we finally see the kids in the finale, I thought the reaction would be much bigger. I was actually arguing with Chuck onstage when we were shooting, saying “You’ve got to give me a shot to play the reaction,” but he said something to the effect of, “It’s just a kid, nobody cares.” And he was right. The audience didn’t react like I thought they would. I left too much room for a reaction that never came.

How Young Sheldon Can Prevent The Big Bang Theory's Mistake With Mandy & Georgie’s Kid After almost a whole season, Georgie and Mandy's daughter, Constance has finally been born. It's unclear what lies ahead for baby Cece at this point but unlike the Wolowitz kids, CBS isn't waiting until the very end of the prequel to physically debut her.

This in itself is already a great way to ensure that viewers aren't indifferent to the newest Cooper family member like they were to Howard and Berndatte's children. Depending on how CBS is planning to move Young Sheldon's story forward, Georgie, Mandy, and Cece's life may even be the premise of the new The Big Bang Theory prequel that is currently in the works.
