One MP flew between Manchester Airport and London 15 times
With the cost of living crisis continuing to hit families, and inflation rising while wages remain the same, many of us are having to cut back.
Each of Lancashire's 15 MPs are tasked with representing their constituents in Parliament and so travel regularly between their constituency and London. Members of Parliament can claim back expenses for travel between their constituency and London, office costs , council tax, utilities and for their own accommodation .
We looked at how much each of Lancashire's MPs spent on rail and air travel in the last year. Lancashire has 11 Conservative MPs, four Labour MPs and the Speaker. All expenses details are published online by the the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority HERE. The following gives information for each MP, in alphabetical order, as well as the total number of rail journeys between 2021 and 2022, the total cost, the most expensive individual journey and the number of first class rail tickets. Followed by this are details of the total amount claimed in car mileage and any air travel costs.Total cost in rail tickets: £3,267.
