After a year in development, launch day is finally here for the all-new MTA app. I might be biased but I think it’s destined to be another five-star download, just like TrainTime before it. We listened to feedback about the existing version and enhanced the new one to be what we think is the best-in-transit anywhere.

With just a single tap, subway and bus customers now have access to real-time arrivals at the stops closest to them, along with live positioning of the nearest trains and buses, clearer station layouts, and better transfer information. And for the times you need some extra assistance, there’s 24/7 chat support from live customer service agents. We want users to move through the transit system with confidence. Need to look up planned service changes? There’s a feature for that. Lost something on the bus? Just click on the link to the MTA’s official lost and found page to file a claim. The new app also allows riders to browse in accessibility mode, showing a version of the subway map that highlights ADA accessible stations and real-time elevator status, with support for screen readers and font scaling. Plus, there’s integration with Access-A-Ride, so customers can more easily book and manage trips between systems. Finally, it feels like the MTA is operating in 2026—with 2026 technology. All the credit goes to our incredible in-house team of experts, many of whom left Big Tech companies to come work with us. We’re so excited to have them on board to help develop innovative new tools for improving the rider experience, without a hefty consultant price tag. In the past, we’ve farmed out digital projects like this to third parties, which makes it harder to continually update and improve assets, not to mention more expensive. That doesn’t work for today’s MTA, considering we’re already planning to introduce new features later this year, like OMNY account management and ride history. As our Chair and CEO Janno Lieber likes to say, the new MTA is doing things differently to deliver maximum benefit for New Yorkers. The new app is just the latest example, and we look forward to reading your reviews in the App Store.Mamdani appeals CityFHEPS lawsuit, breaking campaign promise to drop suit and expand rental assistance to thousandsEviction or extortion?
