This article explores the rise of patriotism in the West, fueled by the fight against wokeism and mass immigration. Drawing parallels between figures like Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, and Donald Trump, the author argues that these forces threaten traditional values and national identity.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Margaret Thatcher 's ascension to the leadership of the British Conservative Party. She stands as one of the most inspiring political figures for me, a fervent defender of freedom and a patriot who understood the vital importance of a nation's adherence to its traditional values. As Thatcher eloquently stated, 'Patriotism means that we cherish a nation's history and feel concern for its future long after we ourselves have gone.

It means that we will be prepared to make any sacrifices for the sake of our country and the things for which it stands. Take it away, and greatness decays; national freedom, even national survival will be placed in jeopardy.'We are fortunate to live in an era of optimism and possibility. In May, I will address the CPAC conference in Budapest, Hungary, themed 'The Age of Patriots has begun.' And indeed, it has! In America, Donald Trump has ushered in a transformative shift in politics, achieving what seemed improbable just a year ago: concurrently rolling back wokeism and illegal immigration. His presidency allows for swift implementation of his political agenda, a luxury unavailable in my home country, the Netherlands, and most other European nations, where coalition governments and compromises necessitate a protracted decision-making process. Nevertheless, there is no doubt: Europe too will witness the end of wokeism and illegal immigration.Trump's victory serves as a catalyst for patriotism across the Atlantic. Across the West, our national identity is deeply rooted in Judeo-Christian values. Both wokeism and multiculturalism undermine this very foundation. The fight against wokeism and mass immigration are two sides of the same coin, a battle for our very existence. Wokeism reduces an individual's identity to superficial characteristics like skin color or sexual preference, disregarding the traditional markers of our identity: family, neighborhood, and nation. It redefines identity as egocentric and subjective, whereas identity is traditionally understood in relation to others, encompassing an objective allegiance to family and nation. Even without practicing Christianity, one can appreciate the profound wisdom of 13th-century philosopher and theologian Thomas Aquinas: 'The principles of our being and governing are our parents and our country, which have given us birth and nourishment. Consequently, man is debtor chiefly to his parents and his country, after God.' The slogan for next May's European CPAC Conference, 'God, Homeland, Family,' resonates deeply with the principles espoused by Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump, and Thomas Aquinas. We stand upon the shoulders of giants, carrying forward a timeless tradition.Another potent enemy threatening our identity is mass immigration and multiculturalism. This force seeks to dismantle our national identity by radically altering the demographics of our communities and nations. It floods us with immigrants from disparate cultures in numbers beyond assimilation. This was the misguided approach adopted by Angela Merkel in 2015 when she flung open Germany's and Europe's borders to millions of foreigners. 'Wir schaffen das – we can do it,' Merkel proclaimed. Yet, Friedrich Merz, the new leader of the German Christian Democrats, desperately seeks to distance himself from Merkel's legacy because, as it turns out, Germany demonstrably failed to 'do it.' This failure will be evident in the upcoming German elections. Both wokeism and multiculturalism find their roots in the ideas of the so-called Frankfurt School, a group of Marxist philosophers who migrated to the United States in the 1930s. They exerted considerable influence over liberal thought, not by advocating Marxist anti-capitalist economic policies, but by promoting social engineering. The collapse of the Soviet Union and its satellite states in the 1980s marked the demise of Marxism as an economic theory. Today's leftists, influenced by the Frankfurt School ideologues, focus on transforming the moral and cultural fabric of Western society. They advocate for utilizing the state as a tool for radical cultural transformation, aiming to destroy traditional Western culture and its underlying Judeo-Christian morality. The American Democratic Party and mainstream political parties in Europe have been infiltrated by these ideas. However, last November, the American people made their position abundantly clear: they will not tolerate this. In Europe, voters are increasingly drawn to patriotic parties, such as my own Party for Freedom (PVV) in the Netherlands
