The aftermath of the Jan. 6 insurrection continues to unfold 2 years later. Here’s what happened since 2021

Thousands of 2020 presidential election deniers stormed the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, causing pandemonium and halting Congress's count of electoral college votes.

Of those charged, 526 have pleaded guilty or been convicted by trial, 353 have been sentenced and 195 were incarcerated as part of their sentence. The participants who pleaded guilty were sentenced from zero days to multiple months in prison.A number of Houston residents were charged for allegedly participating in the insurrection on Jan.
