Survival thrillers tap into a very primal part of the human psyche — a need so basic that it’s universal: the will to survive. Whether they’re about disaster victims, stranded explorers, or refugees fleeing devastation, these films spotlight the stories of people who find themselves trapped in an extraordinarily dangerous situation and must find a way to make it out alive.

Against the Ice premiered at the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival and received mixed reviews. The movie was fairly successful on Netflix, however, reaching second place on the streamer’s top 10 list within its first five days. While the narrative isn't particularly original, it is a gorgeously filmed movie with great performances.
