Mercedes has now built a half million examples of the ubiquitous two-box SUV, and the 500,000th is a one-off celebrating that 44 years of history. The build is, unsurprisingly, excellent. The car is painted in agave green, an original G-Wagen color

The turn signals are also uniquely colored, finished in a shade of orange more reminiscent of cars made in the late Seventies than any made today.Out back, the G features a unique spare tire cover with a throwback design and an oversized three-pointed star logo meant to evoke earlier Mercedes models. The wheels are a tribute to the earlier years of the G-Class, and the interior featuresThe G-Wagen is a megahit as is, with Mercedes selling more than 7000 in the U.S.
