The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris begin with opening ceremonies on July 26, 2024, and will run through August 11, 2024, with closing ceremonies.
Team USA has two flag bearers: LeBron James and Coco Gauff . For the American side, team captains and fellow players normally choose flag bearers. The Paris Games will be James’ fourth Olympics. The NBA legend made his Olympics debut in 2004. The 39-year-old helped team USA win gold in 2008 and 2012, and was named the 2012 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year.
When he steps on the court for his first game, he will join Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant as the only three players to ever play in four Olympics for Team USA men’s basketball. Gauff is only 20 years old and is a rising star in the tennis world. The U.S. Committee selected Gauff to play alongside Jessica Pegula in the 2020 Tokyo Games but she had to pull out after testing positive for COVID-19. The Paris 2024 Olympics will be Gauff’s Olympic debut.
