Economists estimate the Astros playing in the 2022 World Series will generate $12 to $14 million in economic activity per home game for Houston.

The total economic impact of the World Series will depend, of course, on whether the Astros get their brooms out once again, having already swept the Seattle Mariners in the American League Division Series before doing the same to the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series. A sweep means only two games played in Houston; if the series goes seven, Houston will host four games.
The national media coverage of will include stories about Houston, and images of the city—a shot of visibility which can increase tourism, and even play a role in people and businesses moving to the area.
