The 2020 LVMH Prize Finalists Are Here | Learn more about the eight budding designers shortlisted to win the grant:
’Tis the season — the 2020 LVMH prize finalists have now been officially announced. Come June 5, eight selected nominees from a pool of 20 semifinalists will present their collections to an impressive roster of designers that includes big industry players like Virgil Abloh, Stella McCartney, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, Jonathan Anderson and others.
“This year, once more, the semi-finalists impressed us with their creativity and their commitment to creating clothes that are respectful of the environment,” Delphine Arnault, Executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton and the founder of the Prize, said in a press release. “The eight finalists all have in common to be very talented in their respective fields and to aspire to enhance know-how.”
Five of the eight finalists design womenswear, while the other three have menswear as their main focus. Sustainability and responsible design are the two main issues young creators are trying to address this year. The LVMH Prize winner is slated to receive a €300,000 grand and a year’s mentorship from a dedicated LVMH team, and the recently introduced Karl Lagerfeld prize will award an up-and-coming designer a €150,000 along with the same one-year mentorship program.
