Gale looking full of himself in Baldur's Gate 3
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Baldur's Gate 3 gives Tav companions of various classes to help round out the party's combat abilities. Gale fills the role of wizard for the group, but his class can be switched using the power of Withers and a few hundred gold. Like the rest of the party, Gale's background and personality are both slowly revealed through his actions, and especially through his words.
Although Gale tries to present himself as a scholarly gentleman, he's also a lonely man who's been locked away in his tower due to the Netherese Orb in his chest. He might not be thrilled when Tav doesn't return his feelings, but he generally accepts the situation when it's clear he doesn't have a chance. As a result, his slip up when Tav speaks with him underdressed is unexpected, hilarious, and just a little bit sad.
8 "Sounds Like A Recipe For Disaster. But You Know What? I'm Learning To Enjoy The Taste Of Chaos. Count Me In." Act 3 Party Banter With Gale & Astarion This line has the chance to come up when Gale and Astarion are both in the party while exploring the Lower City Sewers. Astarion mentions what he thought his return to Baldur's Gate would be like, having expected a welcome in the form of days of hedonistic debauchery.
6 "Nothing Like A Brisk Stroll Through The Forest To Invigorate The Spirit" Act 1 Banter This line seems more likely to pop up if Karlach is in the party with Gale while walking between areas in Act 1. Gale says the line, and Karlach mentions that she was thinking the same thing, but in a less poetic way. Although Gale and Karlach have had rather different pasts, it makes sense that they can both appreciate being out in the fresh air due to their recent histories.
4 "You Licked A Dead Spider. Dead Spider. You Licked It. That Is Something That Happened." Act 2, Gauntlet Of Shar While exploring the Gauntlet of Shar in Act 2, the party can find the body of a spider that's been sitting there for an unknown length of time. If Tav decides to interact with and inspect the spider, they have the option to lick the spider's meat, which is rotting at this point.
Making it to Act 3 with Gale means that he was dissuaded from using the orb in his chest at the end of Act 2 when the party is in the Mind Flayer Colony. Then, when Tav reaches the Act 3 romance scene with Gale, he admits that he wants to live now, and he wants to live by their side. This quote is a great example of how much Gale has grown during this journey, and how he went from wanting to die for Mystra to wanting to live with Tav.
