The Penguin may need some Help.
Few villains put Batman on the ropes in hand-to-hand combat, but one of the few who did might be forming another unholy alliance with the Penguin. Oswald Cobblepot is currently coming off of the heels of the debut issue of his own self-titled comic series. The premiere serves as a character study, examining Penguin's supposed post-crime life after his children take his assets out from under his beak.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Contrary to what most of that issue went on to illustrate, it seems as though this old penguin is back to his old tricks in The Penguin #2 by Tom King, Rafael de Latorre, and Marcelo Maiolo, out September 26. The Penguin Will Meet The Help The Help first made his on-panel debut in last year's Batman: Killing Time #3 by Tom King, David Marquez, Alejandro Sanchez, and VC's Clayton Cowles. After The Penguin is left for dead in the midst of a plot to steal his belongings, he makes one executive order to one of his minions: "Call The Help. Kill them all." Batman would soon personally get acquainted with the Help and to his dismay, Batman can't handle the Help.
Could a Batman vs. The Help Rematch Be In Store? The reason for the Help re-entering the Penguin's life remains unknown for now. If it has anything to do with the previous issue's ending, it could just be a matter of the Penguin's civilian lifestyle making himself a target. Amanda Waller and Agent Espinoza make it clear that they have their sights on him, with the latter pressuring him to go back to Gotham to take back his criminal empire under her own control.
Whatever role that the Help ends up playing, it seems that another confrontation between him and Batman is inevitable. After all, Batman: Killing Time #3 establishes that their fight in that issue is merely "the first of what will become a series of legendary battles" between them. If another battle doesn't take place in The Penguin #2, it certainly sets the stage for it to happen by series' end.
