Nigel Farage has delivered a pointed message to former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott while on the campaign trail ahead of the United Kingdom's general election next month.
Firebrand Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has fired back at Tony Abbott 's"tribal" approach to politics after the former Australian prime minister expressed his support for Rishi Sunak 's Conservative Party in a column in a British newspaper this week. Nigel Farage has delivered a pointed message to former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott while on the campaign trail ahead of the United Kingdom's general election next month.
Speaking to Sky News UK reporter Ian Woods, Mr Farage was asked if there were any Australian politicians he admired or identified with, given his contribution to the media landscape. Abbott's famous vow to"stop the boats" before he came to power in 2013 has inspired immigration policies globally, with Farage last month calling for the UK to leave the European Convention on Human Rights so the country can immediately deport illegal arrivals.
Mr Farage was asked if if he would consider getting Mr Abbott onboard with his campaign given his admiration for the politician, who served as Australia's 28th prime minister.
