Texas’ Jordan Whittington undaunted through it all
Texas receiver Jordan Whittington has flashed a lot of potential in his time in Austin but has struggled to stay on the field.AUSTIN — Somehow, Jordan Whittington’s smiles seem bigger these days, even after everything that’s happened to his body over the past few years. His body, by the way, also looks better than ever. No one could possibly tell what it’s been through with just a look..
That might have been the most deflating setback considering Whittington had made it all the way to the Cotton Bowl fully intact. He opened the campaign with a 113-yard performance against No. 23 Louisiana and was the Longhorns’ leader in receptions , receiving yards and targets heading into Game 6 against rival Oklahoma.
He eats better, cleaner. And spending two-to-three extra hours inside Texas’ futuristic facilities engaging in hydrotherapy and additional work with trainers most days has kept Whittington’s body fresh. “That’s just something that comes with maturity and self-discipline,” Whittington said. “I always make a conscious effort to take it serious. When I was younger, I didn’t and I saw the consequences of that. So now just being older, going through it three times in a row, it changes your mindset. I’m happy they have faith in me, but it was something I had to do. Like I had to switch up what I was doing, I had to change something.
