State Senator Roland Gutierrez, who represents Uvalde, said three of his Republican colleagues support raise the age to buy an assault-style rifle in Texas but won’t go public.

"Sadly and unfortunately, what happened in Uvalde, unfortunately will happen again in our state," Gutierrez said. "We have to do things to fix this problem, so at least we make it somewhat harder, so at least we make it somewhat avoidable. Because if we do nothing, shame on us.
