Texas Student Who Traveled To China Being Tested For Possible Coronavirus

If the patient, who has not been publicly identified, tests positive for coronavirus it would mark the second known U.S. case of the illness.

- A university student being treated for a respiratory illness in Texas after traveling to Wuhan, China, is being tested for the newly discovered coronavirus that has killed 18 people in China, state and local officials said on Thursday.

“The patient is being isolated at home in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as the investigation continues to determine whether this is a case of novel coronavirus,” the health officials said. Although Texas and CDC officials did not provide any identifying information about the patient, Texas A&M University said it had been notified by local health officials that the patient was a student there.
