Texas State University is set to expand outside the U.S. for the first time by partnering with a group of Mexican investors, including the race car driver Ricardo González, to open a campus in a master-planned community outside the city of Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico .
Buc-ee's could start work on San Marcos travel center in October, filing says Texas State University Mexico consists of a group of investors including González, known for starring in the Netflix documentary The Gentleman Driver, said Thilla Sivakumaran, vice president of TXST Global, a department the university created last year to grow its global reach.
Texas State University looks to raise academic profile, keep growing enrollment The Texas State satellite campus will share some areas with Arkansas State, Sivakumaran said. A dormitory building that will be devoted to Texas State students is being finished up, as well as a multi-purpose building that will include classrooms and study areas. The hope is for the Texas State campus eventually to have its own sports facilities, including a football field and football team.
