Texas State University plans on sending some of its students into the skies with a new pilot-training degree program. Starting this fall, Texas State will offer a bachelor's degree with a concentration in aviation science. The program will give students a path to become licensed pilots and receive a bachelor's degree at the same time, school officials say.
Condor Airlines plans to reduce San Antonio to Frankfurt service next summer Aviation courses for the program will be taught by Texas State faculty members through the school's Department of Occupational, Workforce and Leadership Studies. The flight training will be handled by Coast Flight Training, a flight school that operates at San Marcos Regional Airport. The airport is owned by the city of San Marcos and operated by Texas Aviation Partners.

'The bachelor’s degree program at Texas State University features courses that help students learn , marketable skills in addition to those talents taught through flight training,' Bakre said.
