Coming off last year's centennial celebration, the state agency is offering free day-use entry to its more than 80 state parks.

Outdoor enthusiasts can get their fix of nature for free as part of Texas State Parks Day on Nov. 3. Texas State Parks is offering free day-use entry to its more than 80 state parks, which the agency said is a tradition born from last year's centennial celebration that offered a day of free access to visitors. “Any day in a Texas State Park is a good day,” said Rodney Franklin , director of Texas State Parks , in a news release.

Some parks near San Antonio are Government Canyon State Natural Area, Palmetto State Park and Blanco State Park. Another is Guadalupe River State Park, which normally has a $7 daily entry fee for ages 13 and up. Parks have capacity limits, and the agency recommends making reservations ahead of your visit online or by calling 512-389-8900.
