For the second time in two weeks at home, TSU lost a crucial basketball game.

“We missed a great opportunity tonight clinching at least a share of first place in the conference race for the season and possibly winning the conference outright, provided that we had the opportunity to win on Saturday,” TSU coach Johnny Jones said. “Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.”

“That’s something we’re looking forward to and that’s what we got to turn our attention to,” Jones said. Last year we were able to win the conference tournament. This year we felt we had the type of team that could come back and win the regular season and then get back to the Tournament as well. With one regular season game remaining, TSU is 14-12, 12-5. Alcorn, which has two games left to play, is 13-15, 12-4.
