Texas-sized burger joint LSA opens Oct. 6 in The Colony
LSA Burger has finally opened off of State Highway 121 in the Grandscape development that includes Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Diners will probably remember the burgers and fries most, but the art on the walls tells a deeper story. Co-founder John “Sparky” Pearson chose 12 Texans to honor in portraits throughout the second floor of the restaurant. Audie Murphy, a celebrated soldier in World War II; Bessie Coleman, the first Black and Native American female pilot; and sports and political icons like Tom Landry and Gov. Ann Richards are among the famous Texans portrayed here by artist Dan Black.
The burger patties come from 44 Farms, a beef producer 150 miles south of Dallas. “We don’t even have a freezer,” O’Tool says. That’s oftentimes rare for large restaurants serving more than 300 people at a time, as LSA will. The two-story structure has a patio and an only-in-the-suburbs parking lot, both large.
Another small but mighty part of the menu is the option of chicken-fried steak. It comes two ways: straight-up and served with white gravy, cowboy beans and blistered jalapeños; or supersized on the Tejano plate, with two cheese enchiladas and a cheese-filled poblano pepper. That’sAt $21.50, the Tejano sounds like a deal, as it could probably feed two adults.
