Federal authorities were at the Texas home of Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar Wednesday as part of an undisclosed law enforcement investigation.
In a brief statement, the FBI confirmed that agents were "present in the vicinity" of Cuellar's Laredo, Texas residence conducting a "court-authorized law enforcement activity."Late Wednesday, Cuellar's office promised to assist federal authorities.
"Congressman Cuellar will fully cooperate in any investigation," the lawmaker's office said in a statement, which did not elaborate on the nature of the inquiry. "He is committed to ensuring that justice and the law are upheld." Earlier this year Cuellar, whose district includes a swath of the Texas border with Mexico, joined with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., in a call for the Biden administration to appoint a “border czar” to deal with the influx of migrants.
Cuellar said in July that the administration needed to pay attention to local border communities and border patrol officials working in the region. "They don't need pats on the back. They need help down there on the border," Cuellar said then. "Something has to change when it comes to border immigration issues."Our goal is to create a safe and engaging place for users to connect over interests and passions. O'Rourke raises $7M in first weeks of bid for Texas governorDemocrat Beto O'Rourke said Tuesday that his campaign for Texas governor raised $7.2 million in the first six weeks of a race that could wind up as one of the nation's most expensive in 2022. The announcement, made on the deadline in Texas for campaigns to submit their latest finance reports, is an early marker of whether O'Rourke can remain a fundraising powerhouse in his latest comeback after failed bids for the U.S. Senate and president. The haul is significant by the standards of other Texas Democrats who have run for governor but have failed to succeed for more than 30 years.
