The full scope of Venable’s role is yet to be determined. Venable, 40, served as bench coach the last two years in Boston. Donnie Ecker currently has the dual role of offensive coordinator/bench coach, a role that was created for him to hire him away from San Francisco. It’s possible that Venable could perform some of the more traditional duties of a bench coach, which include spring training workout and daily scheduling..
