Stephen Bratton has been excommunicated from the Grace Family Baptist Church after allegedly admitting the abuse.
reports that Bratton was released from custody in May after posting a $50,000 bond. Court records also show that an emergency protection order was granted for his release.
"As the weeks followed the pastors continued to make contact with the detective because they desired the case to be brought forward so that justice would be served," the Grace Family Baptist Church said in a statement."Once the case began we continued to cooperate fully throughout the investigation. Bratton, a father of seven, previously voiced his support for the failed Texas House Bill 896 which would have made abortions illegal in all circumstances and seen women who underwent them facing homicide charges. Under Texas state law, those found guilty of criminal homicide can be punished by the death penalty.
