Texas and 24 other Republican-led states have sued the federal government to stop power plant pollution rules.
Twenty-five Republican -led states, including Texas , filed a legal challenge Thursday to new federal regulations on air pollution from power plants that generate electricity. The new rule, announced in April, would likely end burning coal for power in the U.S. over the next 15 years and make it significantly harder for utilities to continue using natural gas.
Texas utility regulators approve $5 billion ERCOT power plant loan program rules Battery storage and renewable sources — such as wind and solar generation — are excluded from the tapping the fund. A smaller percentage of the funds will provide grants and loans to create microgrids and support utility projects outside the statewide power grid operated by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.
