Spirit AeroSystems produces fuselages for Boeing’s 737 jets. Incidents with certain models of the 737 have led to safety concerns over the past several years.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has opened an investigation into an airplane part manufacturer that could have produced a faulty part provided to The Boeing Co., one that may have had to do with the blowout on a Max 9 aircraft in January. The company, Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, produces the fuselages for Boeing’s 737 jets.
Boeing CEO to exit in broad management shakeup as manufacturing issues plague storied plane maker “The potential risks associated with certain airplane models are deeply concerning and potentially life-threatening to Texans,” said Paxton in a release. “I will hold any company responsible if they fail to maintain the standards required by the law and will do everything in my power to ensure manufacturers take passenger safety seriously.

Boeing has been taking heat from major U.S. airlines like Dallas-based Southwest Airlines and Fort Worth-based American Airlines for months since the incident. Aviation leaders have called on the plane-maker to do better, ultimately resulting in the company’s CEO Dave Calhoun announcing he will step down by the end of the year.
