Texas offering more than $2 million in grant money to help military communities

Governor Abbott said $2.28 million is available to help support military communities in Texas that may be impacted in any future Base Realignment and Closure. The Governor said the money is part of the state's continued support for service members and their families.

The state's 15 major military installations adds over $114 billion to the state's economy and supports more than 600,000 jobs. Among the locations sharing in this years grant money is the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth; which is getting $360,000 for an anti-terrorism protection security system. The Naval Air Station Corpus Christi is getting $1 million for perimeter fencing and gate replacement.
