Miller, who moved to Colorado Springs from Lubbock, helped shovel snow outside of the store during his four-day wait and was eventually on a first-name basis with the employees.Miller wasn’t alone standing in the cold or idling in the Whataburger drive-thru. A dozen people lined up outside of the restaurant while hundreds of others “sat safely and sanely in their cars and trucks in a drive-thru lane,” according to the Gazette. The first 100 people.
BurgerWorks Colorado, a Texas-based franchisee that operates 10 of the chain’s restaurants in the Lone Star State, is behind the openings in the Colorado city. Based in San Antonio and founded in 1950, Whataburger has more than 870 locations in 14 states. The chain has recently begun expanding across the Kansas City area and elsewhere in the United States. Long lines preceded many of those openings.
Miller finally sat down to enjoy his Whataburger No. 5 at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday with his 20-year-old son, Peyton and his wife, Autumn.
