A Texas man faces charges of stalking WNBA star Caitlin Clark after sending her numerous threatening and sexually explicit messages on social media. The incident prompted Clark to alter her public appearances due to fear.
A Texas man is accused of stalking former Hawkeye Caitlin Clark after sending threats and sexually explicit messages to the Indiana Fever star over social media. The Des Moines Register reports an arrest affidavit details how Lewis sent Clark more than 15 messages on X in the middle of December through mid-January. Many of the messages were sexually explicit and sometimes violent. Lewis was arrested at a hotel roughly a mile away from where the Fever play.
Police asked him about the messages on January 8th and he denied the threatening posts at first but then later described them as part of 'an imaginary relationship.' The messages continued after the police visit and he was arrested on Sunday. Clark told police she had been fearful since learning about the messages and even changed her public appearances because of them. Police say it was especially concerning considering he was in Indianapolis given that he is a resident of Texas. Prosecutors filed an order banning him from Hinkle Fieldhouse and Gainbridge Fieldhouse, places where the Fever usually play their games. The WNBA season starts in May
