Dan Patrick said he 'can't even blame' Democrats for staging a walk out on Senate Bill 7, which would make voting much more difficult in the state of Texas.
Bill 7's defeat was the fault of Republicans.
Passage of SB 7, which would have introduced a number of changes like the closure of drive-thru voting and new limited voting hours on Sundays, seemed certain prior to the walk out., adding a last-minute edit that would have made it easier for a judge to overturn an election. "We were determined to run out the clock. It became obvious Republicans were going to cut off debate to ram through their vote suppression legislation. At that point, we had no choice but to take extraordinary measures to protect our constituents and their right to vote.
