Scattered storms are expected across Texas from Friday through Sunday, with the majority of the state under a severe weather threat.
Texas got off to a quick start with severe weather this month. From April 1-5, Texans logged 15 confirmed tornado reports, along with 57 reports of hail at least an inch in diameter. Since then, a much quieter weather pattern has taken hold, as high atmospheric pressure has resulted in above-average temperatures for most. Texas hasn’t received a single severe thunderstorm warning in the past 10 days, which is nearly unheard of this time of year.
Here’s how often tornadoes actually hit San Antonio. That’s all about to change, though. A major shift is expected as a strong low pressure system approaches Texas from the west. The atmospheric disturbance will interact with high levels of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico to produce multiple days of severe thunderstorms through Easter weekend. Here’s a day-by-day look at where the highest severe weather threat will be in Texas.
