Texas Instruments is set to receive $1.6 billion in funding to support two new facilities in Sherman.

Production at Texas Instruments’ upcoming fabrication plants is expected to start as early as early as 2025, according to a senior administration official. The funding will also go toward funding another fabrication plant in Lehi, Utah which is expected to start production in 2026.“During the pandemic, shortages of current-generation and mature-node chips fueled inflation and made our country less safe,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
Those kinds of chips are often referred to as “foundational” chips as they’re used in virtually all electronic systems like sensors, amplifiers and more.
