A Texas man is set to be executed on Wednesday for the kidnapping, sexual assault and shooting of the 18-year-old girlfriend of his drug dealer in 2001.Ramino Gonzales' execution by lethal injection is planned for Wednesday evening at the state penitentiary in Huntsville.His lawyers have argued for clemency citing his radical personal transformation during his nearly two decades on death row.
Gonzales expressed regret at his crime in a video as part of his clemency request: 'I just want to know how sorry I really am. I took everything that was valuable from a mother.''So, every day it's a continual task to do everything that I can to feel that responsibility for the life that I took.''Love, mercy, grace, forgiveness. All these are acts of God. That's what's been so instrumental to my life,' Gonzales said in a video.
