Texas is home to four of the 10 least educated cities in the United States , according to a study that has once again revealed deep-seated educational gaps across the state. Personal finance website WalletHub analyzed the 150 largest metropolitan areas across the country to determine which cities are the most — and least — educated. Like last year, the Lone Star State has only one city ranked among the best educated, while several sit at the bottom of the list.
“Higher education doesn’t guarantee better financial opportunities in the future, but it certainly correlates with it,” said WalletHub analyst Cassandra Happe in a statement. “The most educated cities provide good learning opportunities from childhood all the way through the graduate level. In addition to overall education, it’s also important to look at how well cities promote educational equality when it comes to race and gender.
