Three people were arrested after Texas game wardens uncovered a 'sophisticated scheme' of illegal hunts for an exotic antelope species on private property in South Texas . A Port Mansfield game outfitter and two guides have been charged with hunting exotic animals without landowner consent, theft of exotic livestock, and engaging in organized criminal activity, according to a news release.

Nilgai, also known as 'blue bulls,' are native to India and Pakistan. They were initially taken to the United States as zoo animals in the 1920s and were released in Texas around 1930 at King Ranch, according to the Texas State Historical Association.
