Last month, Florida amended rules to allow high school students to participate in NIL without losing their eligibility. South Dakota did the same thing starting July 1, “I don’t love NIL or transfers in high school,” SMU coach Rhett Lashlee said. “At some point, there has to be an age appropriateness to things. There are certain kids that can earn NIL at 16, 17, 15. What I don’t want to happen at the high school level is what has happened at our level. Things have kind of taken off and gotten out of hand. I hope we can keep the purity of high school sports the way it is.
