The Texas Eclipse Festival in Burnet, which was supposed to wrap up Tuesday, is officially canceled due to “risks of high winds, tornadic activity, large hail,
of high winds, tornadic activity, large hail, and thunderstorms.” The announcement comes just hours before the total solar eclipse., all programming and performances for Monday and Tuesday are canceled. Guests will be allowed to stay for the eclipse, provided they “pack and are prepared to depart after totality.”
Your safety is our top priority. With the support and coordination of Burnet County officials, local safety agencies, and The National Weather Service, we’ve agreed to end the festival today in a calm orderly manner.No additional guests will be allowed to enter Reveille Peak Ranch and in-bound shuttles are canceled. Attendees will receive a partial refund because of the early closure. Information will be sent through email.
Organizers ask attendees to drive safely when leaving the venue. Shuttle services will be organized to assist with departure. "We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this process," the Facebook announcement said. "Rest assured, we are dedicated to your safety and will provide ongoing updates."The announcement was met with a range of reactions. One Facebook commenter said they are "glad that they’re taking safety seriously," but they are "sad for all the festival goers fun is ended early.
