Travis County, where Austin is located, is completely free from drought.

Meteorologists were celebrating Thursday on social media after learning that Austin, Texas, was completely free from drought for the first time in over two years.Texas has suffered from severe drought for several years, with the water levels in many lakes, reservoirs and rivers dropping as a result.

'Meteorologist Avery Tomasco at Austin TV station KEYE posted: 'For the first time in 26 months, the CBS Austin viewing area is not under extreme or exceptional drought. Still a long way to go for the southern Hill Country, but fantastic news nonetheless.'More than 86 percent of Travis County is experiencing normal conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor map. The remainder of the county is considered 'abnormally dry.
