Texas was in trouble. Not season-ending trouble, since it entered Sunday night’s Coral Gables Regional final undefeated, but enough to heighten the probability of a tense return trip to Mark Light Field on Monday.
After hushing the Hurricanes with a 10-4 victory Sunday, Texas now awaits the winner of the Stanford Regional. That final between No. 2 seed Texas A&M and No. 6 national seed Stanford began at 8 p.m. Sunday, with the Aggies needing to win either today or tomorrow to set up a showdown with the Longhorns next weekend.
