The Aggies rank 58th nationally after having the No. 1 group, but there is plenty of time...

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher doesn’t seem too worried about the Aggies’ current lowly recruiting ranking, saying “we feel extremely good about where we’re at and what’s going on.”COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher suggested a history lesson for anyone who believes the Aggies are teetering on a cliff in recruiting — if referencing players who’ve yet to play a down at A&M counts as history.

“None of them are far along until they sign, no matter if they’re committed or not,” Fisher said. “But we feel extremely good about where we’re at and what’s going on.” Saban has since said he should not have singled out any programs and that he was merely pointing out A&M and its boosters did nothing wrong under the name, image and likeness guidelines — they just took full advantage of the new setup of players suddenly having the ability to benefit financially from NIL.

LaVar Arrington, the former Penn State and NFL linebacker, chimed in on the Outkick show that “Saban is playing chess; he ain’t playing checkers. He said, ‘Look, let me put a spotlight where the spotlight needs to be so that it could go back to doing things the way that they’ve been done.’ … Nick is somewhere laughing.”
