Quenton Jackson helped Texas A&M get off to a fast start with 10 first-half points, and he finished with 18.Texas A&M rolled into the Big Apple and took a big bite out of a program from the state producing the most apples. The Aggies overwhelmed the Cougars by outscoring them 58-16 in points in the paint. A&M forward Henry Coleman III, a transfer from Duke, made eight of his 12 field goal attempts, most from within close range. A&M also forced more than twice as many turnovers as Washington State . The Aggies had never made the NIT’s final four in New York in seven previous trips to the tournament that predates the NCAA Tournament by one year . The Aggies last played in the NIT in 2015 in advancing to the second round under then-coach Billy Kennedy.
The Musketeers earned one of their biggest victories of the season in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout in smoking Cincinnati 83-63. But Xavier lost five consecutive games late in the regular season in being left out of the NCAA field.
