Fisher simply must step up his recruiting on the offensive line, because it’s holding the Aggies back from being anywhere near a contender in the SEC West. A&M has had its share of injuries on the line, but Fisher said over the summer this team has its best depth of any of his five at A&M.
That has not been true on the line, because the drop-off to backups with an injury here and there has been significant in the past few games. For instance, Johnson and King were both running for their collective health in losses at Mississippi State and Alabama because of a bad line. In addition, center Bryce Foster’s status is unknown after he hurt his knee late against Alabama. No matter the quarterback, if the line can’t block for him, the Aggies could be in for a long night in Columbia. Speaking of quarterbacks …He was a huge name in the game a couple of years ago and even a brief Heisman Trophy frontrunner at Oklahoma leading into the 2021 season. Now he’s South Carolina’s starting quarterback, and has briefly offered glimpses of his former five-star self.
