A new poll reveals how Texans feel about a range of famous figures who call the state home or have strong ties to it.

Several Texas celebrities, including Elon Musk , Joe Rogan , Mark Cuban , and Beyoncé , have been making headlines recently. A new poll conducted by the University of Texas - Texas Politics Poll sought to gauge public opinion on these prominent figures within the state. The poll surveyed 1,200 Texas voters and revealed interesting insights into their perceptions. Elon Musk , who has relocated to Texas , enjoys a favorable view among 54% of Texans, while 30% hold an unfavorable opinion.

His popularity among Republicans surged after aligning himself with then-president-elect Donald Trump, with significantly lower favorability among Democrats at 27%. Beyoncé, a Houston native, sparked controversy with a nearly even split in opinions, 39% favorable and 34% unfavorable. This division largely followed party lines, with Democrats more inclined to support her and Republicans expressing more negative sentiments.Jerry Jones, the owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, stood out as the only figure on the list with more unfavorable than favorable views, at 28% and 24% respectively. Comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan, who recently moved to Austin, garnered a favorable rating of 42%, with only 21% viewing him unfavorably. Mark Cuban, a minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks who actively campaigned for Democrat Kamala Harris, had a favorable view from 39% of Texans, compared to 25% who viewed him unfavorably. Notably, his support grew significantly among Democrats. On the other hand, several celebrities received overwhelmingly positive responses from Texans. Willie Nelson, the singer, topped the list with 58% favorable and only 8% unfavorable. Actor Matthew McConaughey mirrored Nelson's popularity with 58% favorable and 8% unfavorable. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, a resident of Spring, Texas, also enjoyed a high favorable rating of 56%, with only 8% viewing her unfavorably. Former Texas Rangers and Houston Astros pitcher Nolan Ryan and Grand Prairie-raised singer Selena Gomez also received largely positive responses
