The Houston Texans are projected to select Kansas Jayhawks running back Devin Neal in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Houston Texans undoubtedly need to bolster their offensive firepower this offseason, as quarterback C.J. Stroud lacked sufficient support in his debut year. While constrained by limited cap space, the Texans can strategically acquire valuable assets through the NFL Draft. Pro Football Network recently unveiled a seven-round mock draft, predicting that the Texans will select Kansas Jayhawks running back Devin Neal in the third round.

\PFN noted, 'The only thing hindering him from a higher draft position is the Jayhawks' expansive offensive scheme, which often allows Neal to execute his role without demanding excessive cognitive load.' Neal delivered a stellar 2024 season, amassing 1,266 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns while maintaining an impressive average of 5.8 yards per carry. He also contributed as a receiver, hauling in 24 passes for 254 yards and a touchdown. \This 21-year-old talent arrived at Kansas in 2021 and instantly made a mark, recording 707 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 4.5 yards per attempt. He subsequently achieved three consecutive seasons of over 1,000 rushing yards, culminating in 1,280 yards in 2023. Furthermore, Neal boasts a remarkable career average of 5.7 yards per carry throughout his collegiate journey, exceeding six yards per carry on two occasions with the Jayhawks. The Texans possess Joe Mixon under contract until the end of 2026, but adding a capable running back companion would undoubtedly benefit their offensive strategy, and Neal appears to be an ideal candidate
