The Texans have signed their second-round draft pick Juice Scruggs to his rookie contract, the team announced Monday afternoon. After trading away their original second-round pick in the deal for edge rusher Will Anderson at No. 3, the Texans traded up from No. 65 in the third round to No. 62 in the second round to get Scruggs.
Scruggs, who is 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, addressed one of the Texans’ biggest needs this offseason at center. He also has versatility on the offensive line where he could play at guard. The Texans have starters at guard but not much depth.“I'm just ready to compete,” Scruggs said Saturday at rookie minicamp. “If my number gets called, I'm going to be ready. I'm just here to compete, and that's what I'm here to do.
