The Houston Texans have decided to part ways with offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik following a season where the offense, despite a successful overall record, struggled. Coach DeMeco Ryans, who previously hinted at potential staff changes, has initiated the process by letting go of Slowik and two other offensive coaches.

The Houston Texans have parted ways with offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik after two seasons, according to sources. This move comes amidst a season where the Texans' offense struggled despite winning the AFC South and reaching the divisional round for the second consecutive year. The team also fired offensive line coach Chris Strausser and assistant offensive line coach Cole Popovich. While the Texans had a successful season overall, their offensive performance fell short of expectations.

Slowik's future with the team was uncertain following Coach DeMeco Ryans' comments after the season, where he expressed a desire to evaluate the staff and acknowledged the need for offensive improvement. The Texans' offense ranked 18th in scoring (22.1 points per game) and 16th in total offense (329 yards per game). A particularly concerning aspect was the pass protection, with quarterback C.J. Stroud taking 52 sacks (second-most in the league) and being pressured on 38.6% of his dropbacks (third-most). Stroud's pressure rate was exacerbated by the Texans' pass protection struggling against defensive twists and stunts, leading to 52 unblocked pressures (second-most). This pressure contributed to Stroud's statistically weaker performance compared to his impressive rookie year. Stroud finished 15th in passing yards (3,727) and tied for 15th in passing touchdowns (20) after recording 4,108 yards (eighth in the NFL) with 23 touchdowns (13th) in Year 1. The Texans' offense faced challenges throughout the season, particularly in the second halves, averaging a league-low 7.5 points per game. From Week 7 to Week 12, the team failed to score a single offensive touchdown. Even with running back Dameon Pierce rushing for 1,018 yards, the offense often struggled, especially in crucial situations. The Texans ranked 17th in third-down conversions (38.9%) and 28th in red zone scoring (48.4%). Coach Ryans acknowledged the offensive shortcomings, stating, 'Overall, offensively, it wasn't where we wanted to be.' He emphasized the need for improvement and highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the team. The Texans will now search for a new offensive coordinator to lead the unit and address these issues

The map assesses fire hazard, rather than risk, based on the physical conditions that create a likelihood of fire behavior over a 30 to 50-year period. The map considers terrain, local weather, and fire history over 50 years. Areas are ranked as moderate, high, or very high fire severity. The map is effective as of April 1, 2024 and focuses on areas under state responsibility, excluding federal land like the Sierra Nevada Mountains and some parts of the Bay Area.
