The accident was caused by
, which was entering the tunnel. Its driver seems not to notice that there is a jog in the road, with a curb that grows out of the wall and runs along the side of the tunnel.The crossover hits the curb, which sends it careening to the right, into the opposing lane of traffic.
It is not known if the driver of the Model Y simply wasn’t paying close enough attention and ran into the curb, or if other factors were involved. By the way, both the Model Y and the Model S were named some of the safest vehicles of 2022
