None of us expected the updated 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range that arrived at our 10Best competition this year to be very different than the original Model 3. Aside from a few subtle styling differences, this EV still looks like it did when it was introduced eight years ago. Looks are deceiving.
There isn't any single earth-shaking upgrade, but this latest version has smartly placed enhancements throughout. For example, the battery has grown in capacity from 75.0 to 79.7 kilowatt-hours. The electric motor driving the rear wheels has picked up 65 ponies for a total of 286. These improvements increase the EPA range from 311 to 363 miles and shave about a half-second from both the zero-to-60 and quarter-mile times.
Nobody will confuse this Model 3 version with a BMW M car, but it has a smooth and comfortable ride that also feels controlled and secure. The steering is sharp and accurate with reasonable feel. Even the brake pedal feels pretty good. As Joey Capparella, deputy editor, rankings content, said, 'The driving experience is great. It's the kind of car that disappears around you.'And the interior noise level is hushed.
